Morning Light_112039.jpg - In college my pen and ink drawings populated the student magazine and yearbook. Two years before retirement I studied drawing and watercolor in the intense environment of the 'Alexandria Art League' school.. I have been juried into shows, exhibits in several galleries, and have won prizes in shows. I am a member of Blue Skies Gallery on King Street in Hampton where you can see some of my work. I teach drawing and watercolor at the Peninsula Fine Arts Center. I believe in expressing more than beauty or ugliness through my work. Beyond either of these is its meaning in my and my viewer's lives. For instance, standing on the campus of Hampton University the morning light shines across the harbor and brightly lights the waterfront. Here the new and future of the Air and Space Museum stands in dichotomy with the work-a-day world of fishing, an ancient profession. I am member of Blue Skies Gallery and been honored to be asked to hang more than a dozen one man shows in Northern Virginia and here in Hampton Roads. My watercolor paintings have been juried into d'Art Center, Peninsula Fine Arts Center, Hampton Arts Center, the Torpedo Factory, and several other galleries and shows. I teache drawing, watercolor, figure, and portrait painting at the Peninsula Fine Arts Center.
